Dr. Liwu Li is a Professor of Inflammation Biology and Immunology at Virginia Tech and Director of the Genetics, Bioinformatics, and Computational Biology (GBCB) program. A world-renowned expert, his research pioneered the concept of innate immune memory dynamics, exploring how immune cells "memorize" signals to influence conditions like sepsis, atherosclerosis, cancer, and aging.

With over 150 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Li’s work has been continuously funded by the NIH for over two decades. He is an elected Fellow of the AAAS and the American Heart Association, and was recently inducted into the Virginia Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicine. A dedicated mentor, he has received university-wide honors, including the Alumni Award for Excellence in Research.
